Social Media for Athletes

This is a crazy phenomenon. It makes these athletes and super stars human and reachable. Social Media makes it easy to be a fan. If you are already on Facebook it is easy to keep up with a team or a player’s news if they are updating their own account.
Most of these Athletes have personal websites that are pushed through their Twitter accounts. Its genius; they have thousands if not millions of fans who are driven to their personal site. Most of these sites offer player merchandise, newsletters, and even opportunities to sign up for their personal basketball camps (for a nice profit of course). (more…)

This is personal website for my alter-ego, Professional Windsurfer AUS-120 [that's my international sail number for those not in the know]. Managed to hand code this almost from scratch sitting in a hotel room in Poland somewhere during one of the Windsurfing World Tour events last year. Now continuing work on producing short videos, travel stories and content for the site.
Website Specifics:
- Wordpress (CMS)
- Aperture Theme (by Woothemes) completely customised from the original
- Custom logo and graphics on all pages
- Integrated Vimeo Channel and Lightbox galleries
- Management of a large amount of content (stories, media, video, tagging)

Another sideproject of mine;Â a weblog of articles on design, technique, tactics, aerodynamics, construction, equipment and how-to’s all related to the racing and performance side of windsurfing. My gift back to the windsurfing community after a few years on tour as a Pro. My aim is create the flow of important and complex information that has previously been guarded by the elite windsurfers – which I believe is counter-productive for the sport!
